Ruth Zimvumi

Mrs Ruth Zimvumi has twelve (12) years experience as a lawyer. She is a registered legal practitioner, conveyancer and notary public. She is 34 years old and is married with three children. She was educated at Hartzell High School in Old Mutare before enrolling at the University of Zimbabwe in 2008. She graduated with the LLB(Hons) degree in 2012.

In June 2012 she joined the law firm of Sinyoro and Partners as a professional assistant.

While at that firm she was placed under the direct supervision of the Senior Partner and she learnt and mastered conveyancing and notarial practice, civil practice and procedure, commercial practice and labour law.

She enjoys tax law and jurisprudence. Though she specializes in Commercial, Family and Labour Law, she keenly follows the developments in Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law.

Mrs Zimvumi boasts of the fastest turnover in conveyance, guardianship, and adoption cases, Rent Board disputes, divorce, maintenance, trademark and patents registration and evictions, foreclosures and debt collections at all levels and is a sought after Counsel in that field.

She has been a resource person and consultant to Churches, Parastatals and Voluntary Organizations in the field of labour law and commercial law.

She played a major role in the development of the firm’s civil and labour law units, giving opinions, processing litigation and acting as internal resource person to other legal practitioners for major cases within these fields.

She is also a collaborative partner of St Nick’s Kids, Inc an accredited agency for incoming and outgoing Intercountry adoptions that is based in Marietta, Georgia in the USA.

She is hands on the Intercountry adoptions. Prospective Adoptive Parents who reside outside the Zimbabwean jurisdiction have found her services to be top notch in that she helps ease the burden on them by doing the following:

  •  Filing initial application for adoption at the relevant Social Welfare District Office
  • Following up on timely home assessments by assigned probation officer
  • Following up on timely referral of case to Social Welfare head office for International Social Services Report requisition
  • Ensuring that prospective adoptive parents’ agency of choice is contacted for compilation of Home Study Report
  • Following up on timely submission of International Home Study Report to the Social Welfare Head Office by the agency
  • Following up on timely transmission of International Home Study Report by the Social Welfare Head Office to the probation officer at District level for compilation of his/ her final guardian ad litem report
  • Ensuring that all relevant documentation in support of the application for adoption are in order before set down of the matter
  • Following up on timely set down of the matter for hearing before the Regional Magistrate
  • Following up on timely issuance of new birth certificates bearing the minor child’s new names as well as the adoptive parents’ names
  • Filing I-600A with the relevant embassy for speedy processing of visas for adopted child”

She was also involved in policy formulation for the firm and, staff and general administration issues.

In June 2016 Mrs. Zimvumi resigned and set up her own practice. She positioned herself for a new thrust in serving the Conveyancing, labour law and commercial markets.

She is a former trustee of numerous family trusts for colleagues and clients.

She served corporate clients such as Shomet Industrial Holdings, Feel Great Enterprises, Best Results Management, Chemaden Resources Pvt Limited, Kunyu Mining, Zimbabwe Gardens Weddings Pvt Limited, First Golden Resources, Baimazeng Investments, TD Holdings Private Limited, Joppa Investments, Bionest Investments Pvt Limited, Homelink, Ruby Auctions, ZIMRA, Robert Root Property Consultants, Hilmax, Corbett and Company, Hippo Pools, The Colour Crew, to mention just a few corporates.

Besides her professional work, she also supervises the administrative and financial arms of the firm.

Kudakwashe Fortune Chipudya

Kudakwashe Fortune Chipudya graduated from the University of Zimbabwe in 2018 where he undertook a Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree and is registered as a Legal Practitioner, Conveyancer and Notary Public.

He started practicing law in 2019 under Antonio & Dzvetero Legal Practitioners.  

He then joined Ruth Zimvumi Legal Practice in June 2021 as a Professional Assistant and has been holding such position to date.

His area of interest and speciality is criminal litigation where he has a deep passion in protecting and upholding the rights of the accused person. He has a desire to see to it that the accused person’s fundamental human rights are upheld right from the time of arrest until the finalisation of the matter.

Despite his keen interest in criminal litigation, the firm has also exposed him to civil practice particularly advising on contracts and drafting. He has also been able to appear in all courts in Zimbabwe hence deepening his appreciation of both civil and criminal litigation in its varied forms.

Tadiwanashe Trish Pfende

Tadiwanashe Trish Pfende obtained her Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University and this was in 2024. She is a well-seasoned mooter being a participant in the Prestigious Philip C Jessup International Moot Court in March 2024.

She has impressive, strong research skills and drafting abilities making her a valuable asset to the firm under the Supervision of the Senior Partner.

She joined Ruth Zimvumi in June 2024 as a Professional Legal Assistant as she awaits for her registration to be a Registered Legal Practitioner, Notary Public and Conveyancer.

Elyn Tanaka Tsokotsa

Elyn Tanaka Tsokotsa obtained her Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Human Resources Management from Great Zimbabwe University in the year 2019. She is a fast learner and an effective team participant who strive for quality.

She joined Ruth Zimvumi Legal Practice in January 2024 as an Administrator and she is responsible for the day to day smooth running of the firm. She is also responsible for the financial and administrative arm of the firm under the supervision of the Senior Partner.
